About Troop 77

We are a long established troop, over 65 years old, that is active and growing. Troop 77 offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and learn new life changing skills.

Old Scout Hut
  • History - Chartered in 1946 by the Boy Scouts of America.

Troop 77 previously met in the American Legion building, then First United Methodist Church. In the 1950s, the troop moved into it's first Scout Hut at the intersection of Old Riley, Pawnee, & Short Streets behind the Toccoa National Guard Armory. The troop moved to it's current location in 2009 after the new Scout Lodge was dryed-in.

Thousands of Toccoa / Stephens County boys have gone through the BSA program with Troop 77. More than 80 have become Eagle Scouts.

A Venturing Crew was chartered in 2001 for boys aged 15-20, but is currently inactive. A Venture Crew is oriented toward high adventure and offers additional opportunities for older boys with advanced scouting skills.
